We are thrilled to announce the next chapter in Volaire LARP's Planar Wars Campaign! Join us on Sunday, October 13th, for an exclusive One-Shot Event on the treacherous Plane of Darkness. This unique adventure will see you pitted against one of the most dangerous forces in the Planar Web: Dsurion, a dark dragon whose very presence sends ripples through the fabric of reality.

The Storyline

In the hidden depths of the Plane of Darkness, a shadowy rebellion is stirring. The land has been dominated by the mighty dragons, beings of immense power who have ruled these forsaken realms with an iron claw. Among them, Dsurion, has solidified his reign by bending the plane’s primal energies to his will, controlling its chaotic nature to maintain a reign of terror.

But now, after many years of oppression, whispers of defiance echo through the realm. The secretive organization known as The Shroud—a coalition of rebels from various corners of the Elemental Planes—has emerged, aiming to topple the dragons’ tyranny and restore balance. The Shroud is recruiting denizens of the Plane of Darkness to stand against the dragon overlords and reclaim their freedom. They seek adventurers from beyond the plane to join their ranks and aid them in their bold rebellion.

However, standing against Dsurion is no simple task. This dark dragon is a master of Darkness, able to manipulate the energies of the plane to his advantage. His power stems not only from Undeath, but from his deep connection to the etheric forces of the Plane of Darkness—his scales are black as night, his eyes burn with the fire of forgotten stars, and his roar can shatter the resolve of even the most courageous hero.

Now, The Shroud calls upon you to venture into the Plane of Darkness, to help unite its denizens and launch an attack against the mighty dragon lords. Will you rise to the occasion, rallying the oppressed creatures of the realm, or will you fall beneath the crushing weight of Dsurion’s power?

The Event:

This One-Shot Event offers you the chance to take on a role like no other—embodying creatures that dwell in the Plane of Darkness, beings who know its secrets intimately and are attuned to the powers of Darkness. But be warned, this plane is full of dangers, and Dsurion is not a foe to be taken lightly.

Playable Monster Races:

For this event, you will step into the roles of **undead beings** from the depths of the Plane of Darkness, recruited by The Shroud to rise up against the dragon overlords. Each race reflects the decaying, necrotic nature of this dark realm:


- Bone Goblins: These skeletal versions of goblins are fast and cunning, able to slip through the shadows undetected. Despite their small size, they are highly resourceful, using hit-and-run tactics to take down larger foes. Bone Goblins are skilled scavengers, often reanimating fallen creatures to fight at their side.
Costuming Requirements: Pointed ears and "sunken" eyes, illustrated by darkening the area around the eyes.


- Wraith Walkers: Tall, ghostly figures that hover above the ground, Wraith Walkers are beings of pure necrotic energy. Their incorporeal forms make them difficult to hit with physical attacks, while their connection to the dark plane allows them to drain life from their enemies and cast powerful necromantic spells.
Costuming Requirements: White hair and pale coloring on all exposed skin. Costuming should be wispy, dull, and muted in color as though ghost-like.


- Grave Sentinels: Massive undead warriors, Grave Sentinels are constructed from the bones of fallen giants and ancient creatures. These hulking figures act as living fortresses, absorbing damage with their decayed but powerful frames. Armed with colossal weapons, they strike with the power of the dead, protecting their allies and wreaking havoc on their foes.
Costuming Requirements: Blood leaking from every orifice and "sunken" eyes, illustrated by darkening the area around the eyes.


- Ravenous Ghouls: Twisted and decayed, these once-living creatures are now driven by an insatiable hunger for flesh. Ghouls are feral and relentless, using their clawed hands to tear through enemies with terrifying speed and savagery. Their undead resilience makes them difficult to kill, as they continue to fight even when badly wounded.
Costuming Requirements: Rotting flesh illustrated by browns, greens, greys, and yellows covering all exposed flesh.

Each race represents a different aspect of the Plane of Darkness, and each has their own motives for joining The Shroud’s rebellion against the dark dragons.

The Shroud and the Rebellion:

At the heart of this One-Shot lies The Shroud, a covert organization that has been rallying forces across the Elemental Planes to resist the dragons’ oppressive rule. They believe that the power of the Plane of Darkness should be restored to the rightful lineage, not hoarded by the dragons who have lorded over it for too long. The Shroud’s ultimate goal is to breach Dsurion’s fortress and bring the dark dragon down, but they cannot do it alone.

You are the key to their plans. As adventurers from across the plane, you possess the skills and strength to tip the scales in their favor. Will you unite the denizens of the Plane of Darkness under The Shroud’s banner, or will internal conflicts and Dsurion’s relentless might tear the rebellion apart?

What to Expect:

- High-Stakes Combat: This is a battle for survival in one of the most dangerous realms in the Web. You will face Dsurion himself, a towering figure of darkness and fury, backed by the forces of his dragon kin. Can you rise to the challenge and take down this seemingly invincible foe?

- Dynamic Storytelling: Your decisions will shape the outcome of this event, and perhaps even the larger Planar Wars Campaign. How you interact with the other denizens of the plane, how you choose to confront Dsurion, and your ability to rally forces will determine the fate of the rebellion.

- Lore-Rich Experience: The lore of the Plane of Darkness will unfold as you delve deeper into the event. Secrets, alliances, and hidden dangers will be revealed, adding depth to the world and to your character’s journey. Your choices will have lasting consequences in the larger storyline of the Planar Wars.

- Rewards: 80 Experience Points (applicable to any of your regular characters)

FAQs:

- Do I need to pre-register?: No, but pre-registration helps us plan the event and guarantees your spot in the adventure.
- Will there be food?: Yes! Lunch will be provided during the event. Keep an eye out for the menu announcement before the event.
- Can I come to Monster?: Of course! We always need monsters, and as a bonus, you'll receive free entry, free food, and the same XP rewards as regular participants.

Important Notes:
- Costume/Makeup: While costuming requirements will be relaxed for this One-Shot, participants are encouraged to embody their role as denizens of the Plane of Darkness. Think dark, eerie, and otherworldly as you portray creatures attuned to the powers of Darkness.
- Spellcasting: Spell mechanics will be simplified for this event, focusing on quick, dynamic spell-like abilities instead of memorization.
