Vesta summons Jade

"Oh, about Saige? Let's see... She uh, started running directly towards me and almost gave me a heart attack. I was not expecting a crazed, grinning vampire to be barreling towards me. Fortunately Storm was with her so I didn't freak out too badly... Oh, she told me that she could 'hear my blood' in the vardo and apparently was lurking around the other night. I kindly asked her not to repeat that. I have enough nightmares as it is." Vesta taps her chin. "I asked her why she hated Miquella so much. To be honest, she got pretty scary as soon as I mentioned it. I probably shouldn't have asked, but I didn't know."

She furrows her brows, thinking.

"Apparently Edgar punched a hole in her chest, and now she wants to beat him in arm wrestling?? Seems he's no stranger to getting on women's nerves. Oh, and she said she attacked you and Zuigrii. Honestly, what kind of stuff did you all get up to before I arrived?"

She hums for a moment.

"She did offer me a friendship rock though. I accepted it, if only to be better than Miquella. Enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that. Not that he's necessarily an enemy. Just an asshole."

Vesta looks to Jade.

"Wait... did you mean for me to talk about how I need your assistance? Oops. I'm tired and rambling, aha."

It's obvious that she's trying to stall the conversation about asking Jade for help.

Jade chuckles as she listens to Vesta.

"Yeah she can be a handful, but a lovable handful. And yes please, tell me what I can help you with."

Vesta sighs and shoves her face into the pillow, groaning. After a few seconds, she looks up again, calm.

“Well, first, Selena requested that I ask for your assistance with any items that may… delay my inevitable death when I’m adventuring with the group. I don’t want to ask that of you. There’s no purpose, I cannot fight, and therefore I should not go. I am just relaying that message.”

She sighs again.

“The thing I do wish to ask your assistance in, however, is keeping an eye on me. Particularly my mental status. I ask this of you as my… friend.”

Vesta begins picking at her nails.

“You’ve probably noticed that I have been exhausted recently. It’s worse than I care to admit to anyone, but Selena lectured me, so I am telling you about it. When I don’t sleep, everything gets worse. I struggle to tell reality from visions, or nightmares, or whatever else is fucking around in my head. I have… bad thoughts. If you could just do me a favor, and keep an eye out, I would appreciate it. I’m about to drink a potion when you leave so that I’m forced to sleep. This may have to become a routine for me.”

Jade's face becomes worried as Vesta speaks.

"I can't offer much in the way of protection items but I can definitely make an effort to start sourcing some for you."

Jade smiles warmly at the word "friend".

"I am glad we are friends. I am sad to hear your sleep is causing you so much trouble. If you ever need me I will be there for you. I am not sure what I can do right now. But please always know that I am here if you need me."

“How about… I’ll stop wearing makeup under my eyes, so that you can tell when I haven’t slept, and get on my ass about it. You can be as insufferable about it as I have been about your love life.”

Jade cracks a mischievous grin.

"We'll if you're that desperate Vesta... I could always send one of my undead to monitor your sleep habits. You know, to report to me if you don't sleep."
