Returning to town

"Could be better. The order is on the rise and they trashed the manor. But on the positive side, I got documentation from the king to enter Tuatha. So we can start working on the famon and hopefully find the sibling over there."

“Well I’m certainly better than the last time I saw you two.” Vesta says, arching a brow.  

The ghost of a smile lingers on her lips, and she shifts her attention back to Jade.  

“I’m wondering how thoroughly we need to prepare. I don’t know what will be waiting for us. Perhaps we should pick up components for a teleportation circle? Just in case?”

At Vesta’s expression, Saige hides behind Storm, peeking out cautiously from behind the draconian’s shoulder. When Jade mentions her sister, she inches her head out a little more.

“They’re going to let us all the way into Tuatha?”

Storm grins and cracks her knuckles."Fuck yeah! Let's fix this famine bullshit! It's getting so bad out there. Predators overtaking the prey and some times it's the opposite. I never know til I'm out hunting in it. I'm coming back with less and less too. It's getting pretty dire. We need to make this our top priority."

Jade cracks a mischievous grin.

"It says we can enter Tuatha lands. No specifications."

Jade reins in her emotions back to her neutral face.

"But before you two go flying off, I would say at least wait for me to escort you. I only have one copy and it does specifically name me and whoever I want to bring."

“Wonderful! Glad that’s settled.”

Vesta sinks onto a nearby stool, folding her arms along the counter. Her voice drops to a quieter tone as she leans in towards Jade.

“Baroness, how are your villages faring? Did your people receive all of the remedies they needed? I wasn’t there for the fight, so I don’t quite know how things ended… but I hope the water’s safe now?”

She exhales with an exaggerated sigh, one hand fluttering dramatically.

“I am never stepping foot in a swamp again. I know I said that before, and then immediately did so again, but this time, I mean it!. Never. Again. I could write a novel on just how utterly wretched the mud was. And the bugs!”

She places a hand over her heart with an exasperated expression.

“Did you know that your swamp has werewolves?!”
