Fighting off hunger

Miquella is running between different tables setting things up, “O you’re here! Just who I was waiting for. Jade you can help Zinna if you like. She and a few others are over there making the food (he nods in the direction of the pot as it seems his hands are full). That crate over there has some food and if you need another pot let me know and I can get one started…oh I almost forgot. There barrels of fresh water you can use to make the stew. The sun is starting to set. I give it about thirty mins before people start to trickle this way.” He smiles as he finishes setting stuff up

Kalil nods. "Sure. I can do that. Small talk. Right." He turns to the soldiers. "OK. So we want to keep everyone as orderly as possible. Be casual about it. Don't be afraid to talk to them."

The soldiers turn and begin separating to get ready to direct people towards the food tables.

Connor steps up beside Miquella. "I'll do whatever you need. If something goes south I can just use my ring to get out of here but thank you for the consideration."

Miquella smiles at Conner, “Thank you. I’m sorry I’m so concerned for your safety. I just don’t want anything to happen to you three; because if something does happen Selena will be very upset, but I am going to have someone out soup in the bowl all you need to do is pass it out and do your best to make sure someone does not get two. Each person gets one bowl. We have to make the supplies last as long as we can.”

Zinna waves to Jade from her spot chopping up vegetables, sliding them over into piles to be put in the stew.

Another human in colorful clothing collects the dried meats from the crate, along with some wrapped meat he brought and begins chopping that up to add to the pot, he avoids looking directly at Jade and whispers a few strange words back and forth with Zinna, who smiles and waves him off. "It's ok. Lady Jade is family. She's cousin." The human male nods and flashes a nervous smile and head bow to Lady Jade as he resumes his work.

"Do not mind. Many of my people still fear the darkness for not many have seen those that respect it's power and the balance. We haven't seen many use the darkness for good." Zinna says to Jade as she moves to begin adding things to the large pot over the fire.

Jade holds up a hand to dismis the words.

"Please don't. I completely understand. I am very used to it. I understand your history. I do not ask them to understand me but to just respect me."

Jade smiles and rolls up her sleeves. She rushes over to the table and begins to help prep ingredients. Vegetables are shopped and meats are prepared. With the bones and some aromatics a broth is prepared. Jade points to a few people and gives instructions.

"OK the broth is done. Discard those bones and add the veggies."

Jade starts to add spices to the liquid and them plops in the meat. She stirs the concoction slowly and places a lid on top.

"Now we wait..."

She claps her hands together to get everyone's attention.

"Everyone did an amazing job! Thank you for your help and your time! This could not have happened if it wasn't for all of you coming together to take care of this community. Thank you, thank you, thank you.!"

Miquella smiles. As the sun starts to turn shades of orange, people start to trickled towards the guild. The volunteers return and get into position. After about thirty minutes a large crowd is gathers as they talk amongst themselves. Kalil and his soldiers are making sure the crowd is calm, as some Tovi move in to make sure everyone is hydrated as they wait. Children can be scene holding onto their parents and those without hold on to their nearest relative. People seem to be patiently waiting as they make their way to the front. Conner and Miquella begin passing out bowls of stew to the people with additional volunteers, one after the other the line continues to grow. Jade and Zinna as well as their team work diligently to ensure there is enough stew for everyone. Whispers and murmurs can be heard as the citizens look in awe at the Kalil, Conner, and Zinna.

Miquella looks to Conner, “How are you holding up? If you need a break let me know, and I can get someone to cover for you.”
