Buttons and Bones

“Thanks, Storm.”

Saige smiles and gives her a tight hug.

“Plus if I joined the Guild, I couldn’t go wherever, whenever I wanted to. Miquella is so strict! I still need to find a workaround for you. Maybe kidnapping? I could like, get Jade or somebody to write a ransom note, and then I miraculously rescue you every time? I know we’re technically going on trips to recruit but that’s going to get annoying.”

"True true. Maybe if we recruit enough people, he'll loosen up a little bit." She hugs Saige back and chuckles. "I mean. I knew I'd have soooome responsibility in the guild. I guess I just wasnt sure exactly what was expected of me." She sighs. "I'll figure out a eay to satisfy the needs of the guild and still go adventure with you. Just give me time. I'll sort it out."

“Okay okay, hear me out.” Saige’s eyes are wide and focused. “We sneak into the manor, find some fancy paper that Selena or Kalil uses, escape the manor, then every time we want to go somewhere, we forge a letter saying it’s from them, there’s a big emergency that needs Miquella’s attention right away, we tell Miquella that we’ll take care of stuff while he’s away, forge another letter that says there’s another emergency far away that specifically needs us to fix, and then we leave that letter on his desk and run away, so that when he gets back, he sees the second letter and thinks we are handling something else. And then when we get back we tell him about how many people we saved and the big monster that we killed.”

Storm bursts out laughing. "Okay okay. I hate to burst your bubble but I think that would only work once. If we're lucky. And we'd have to be reeeeally lucky." She grins at Saige. "But I'll hand it to you. That's pretty well thought out."

"Hey now, I like to think I'm pretty lucky. It could totally work!" Saige laughs. "Or I could also see if Kalil would do me a favor and 'request' our assistance. And then we could sneak him out of the manor to return the favor. We should totally do that. We could ask him when we go to the swamp!"

She starts twirling the parasol, growing bored of the wagon.

"Are we almost there? It's been like, a million hours."

Storm nods, lifting off the bench to look over the horizon. "Yeah. We should be there pretty soon actually. Then we can drop off these supplies and go have some fun!" She sits back down."Are you sure we should be sneaking the Prince out anywhere? We're already pretty lucky to be able to take him to the swamps. I don't know how likely it'll be that we can sneak him out."
