Shackled Saige....

"Oh hey Kalil!" Saige grins at Storm's reaction. She waves her hand around. "Well, it's cold and I couldn't sleep a bit, but I've had so many visitors today! I'm glad, otherwise I might have broken out of here already."

She laughs, mostly joking. Her smile then drops, and she rests her head on the bars.

"I hate this..."

Kalil sighs and looks at Jade briefly before looking back at Saige. "I'm not a big fan of it either but... Do you understand why you're here?" He runs a hand through his hair and huffs out a deep breath. "I'm going to be at the trial but I want to try to help you understand because I know you, Saige. And I know you probably don't entirely understand the situation you're in." He charges ahead without waiting for anyone's reply. "No matter how I feel about it, what you did was wrong, Saige. You shouldn't have attacked the Baroness. From what I understand you were ordered to leave and you didn't want to but they forced you to come back anyways then you attacked Baroness Jade and the wolf man. Right. So I get that you were forced against your will but... Jade gave an order. You not only ignored that order but you attacked her for it. You're going to be in trouble for that. Understand?" He glances at Jade now. "I also understand the Baroness didn't want to press charges but the fact is that a noble was attacked in their own embassy. It doesn't matter if she wants to press charges or not, the report was made and you're in the wrong." He winces and reaches up to place a hand around one of the bars as he looks at Saige. "Now, I know you probably don't understand all this. That nobles and laws and all that are... A Bit... Complicated. And because of that fact, I hope the King's punishment is fair to you. I probably won't be asked my opinion since I wasn't a witness or anything to that attack, but if it were up to me, you'd be educated in the laws and all." He smiles. "As for your rage, I can help with that. I understand losing control all too well. I'll help you with that, okay?"

Saige visibly deflates, and her voice goes quiet.

"She didn't order me to... They just attacked me, and I felt trapped and betrayed... Just like I'm betrayed now. Miquella wants me dead..."

Kalil sighs. "Did she say you needed to leave? It doesn't matter if she said "that's an order" or not. If she said you all needed to leave, that was an order. Any command given by someone who outranks you is an order. They don't have to say it is one." He drags a hand down his face as he thinks. "So, if I told you to go sit down right now. That would be an order because I outrank you. I don't need to say, "Saige, I order you to go sit down". We can say it's an order if you disobey and we want to get our point across but we don't have to for it to be an order." He leans against the cell and sighs heavily. "I don't think Guildmaster Miquella wants you dead. I don't necessarily think this was malicious either. I think... Saige, you pretty much get to do what you want. And I think he's trying to show you that even laws apply to you, even if you don't understand or care about them." He winces again. "Maybe... Maybe he's a bit biased because of your... vampire nature. But I think he's just a noble doing what a noble is supposed to do. We have to report serious things, like attacking a Baroness, or we risk getting in trouble for not reporting it and it later being found out." He shrugs. "Don't take it so personally, Saige. I think he's just trying to cover everyone's asses. Yeah, he threw you to the wolves. And I think that was pretty harsh of him but he didn't really have a choice. Somone needed to report it and he just took the hit for everyone else."

Saige listens to Kalil, but her face grows more and more frustrated as he goes on.

"I don't care about these stupid laws! Why should anybody have the right to order me around?! I am my own person, I can make decisions for myself. Nobody should be allowed to make decisions for anyone else. That isn't how nature works! Nobody's life is more important than any other living entity. I don't care if you're some 'noble', or a tree, or an ant crawling around. We're all the same." She steps back until she hits the wall of the cell and runs her fingers through her hair, before slowly sliding down to the floor. "This isn't fair!"

She wraps her arms around her knees and buries her face in them. She goes quiet.

Kalil squats down in front of the cell, lowering himself to her level. "I know how you feel, Saige, but... The world revolves around laws and politics, and nobles are the top of the food chain. Even if you aren't in a barony or guild, if a noble tells you to do something, you don't have much choice. Even if you don't want to do it, that noble could punish you for it and they have the right to pick that punishment too." He sighs, grabbing a bar in each hand. "You are your own person, Saige. No one can take that independence from you. It's just.. You aren't in the woods with your family anymore. You're in a city where nobles make the rules." He shrugs. "Now if you were a noble... Things would be different but you aren't. So these things apply to you whether you want them to or not." He sighs. "I think you should be honest with the King when the time comes and explain you don't understand nobles or the law or how any of this applies to you because of your upbringing. It may help when he decides your punishment."
